Newly named Azle High School head football coach Wilson Rigg has wasted little time getting acclimated to his new role since he was hired in January.
Taking over a program during a UIL realignment year presents its own challenges. From finalizing schedules and assembling a coaching staff to building relationships with players, parents and school administrators, Rigg said the past several weeks have been busy.
“It’s been kind of a whirlwind over the last month,” Rigg said. “We’ve got our schedule set, I got spring ball dates set, and I’ve been building relationships with the kids past the surface level — really getting to know what makes them tick.”
