Three seats on the Reno City Council will be filled as part of the May 2 general election. While most area cities have canceled elections since all candidates are running unopposed, Reno has one contested seat and thus will proceed with the election process.
The incumbent in Place 5, Edward Payne, is seeking reelection to retain his seat, while Darrin Talley has filed to run against him. Payne is a Reno resident who works as a site supervisor for a medical research company and is seeking another term. Talley is a retired 30-year veteran of the Grand Prairie Fire Department who has resided in Reno for two years.
Council member Shelli Swift has decided to not seek reelection for Place 3. Ryan Mott filed to run for the seat and is unopposed in his bid.
