Pelican Bay residents will need to adhere to new fencing requirements in their front yards — at least those who plan to replace their existing fences or install new ones.

During the last Pelican Bay City Council meeting March 10, members voted to amend the current fencing ordinance by raising the current fence height limit in front yards from 3 feet to 4 feet.

According to Mayor Tamra Olague, the change will serve as a safety benefit for dog owners as the higher fencing will better help contain their furry friends and prevent them from getting loose.
