The Azle Hornets split a pair of district games with Fossil Ridge during spring break, earning a road win before falling in the home matchup Thursday at Jim Bob Nation’s Field of Dreams.
Azle opened the series March 17 with a 4-0 district win on the road behind a strong pitching performance from Martin Balderas. Balderas threw a complete-game five-hitter to secure the win for the Hornets.
The teams met again Thursday in Azle, where Fossil Ridge returned the favor with a 4-2 victory, preventing the Hornets from completing the district sweep.
