SOCCER
The Lady Hornet varsity soccer squad ended its season Thursday, March 19 with a loss to Argyle in the UIL bidistrict playoffs. The Lady Hornets had a banner season, going 15-10-1 on the year and 9-3 in district.
SOFTBALL
The Lady Hornet varsity played two tough district opponents as the district race heated up. The Lady Hornets squashed Granbury 13-1 Friday, March 13. Emma Lehr collected three hits in three at bats as the Ladies took down Granbury. The Lady Hornets surged in the fourth inning with 10 runs and never looked back. Pitcher Brooklyn Harris got the win in the circle.
The Lady Hornet varsity continued its district schedule with a trip to White Settlement to take on the Brewer Bears, where they lost 10-0. In district standings, Aledo leads at 5-0, Fossil Ridge is at 3-1, Brewer sits at 4-2, and Azle is at 2-2 as district play continues.
BASEBALL
The Hornet varsity squad split a pair of district games last week. On Tuesday, March 17, the Hornets took down Fossil Ridge 4-0. Starting pitcher Martin Balderas threw a complete game 5-hitter with eight strikeouts. Tyler Hicks and Kaden Haas had two hits each and Garin Bissonnette provided three hits for the Hornets.
The Hornet varsity took on Fossil Ridge at Jim Bob Nation’s Field of Dreams Thursday, March 19. The Hornets were not as lucky this time, falling to Fossil Ridge 4-2. Reese Duncan got the loss, going four innings and giving up four runs. Mason Holleman showed some power with a homer and Bissonette added two more hits to lead the Hornets.
The Hornet JV Green team and Hornet JV White team both went 2-0 on the week.
TRACK AND FIELD
The Hornets boys and girls track team were off during spring break but will be back in action at the POJO relays in Springtown, Thursday, March 26.
