Terri Bartlett has been a part of Good N.E.W.S. Living at Home/Block Nurse Program since 2000. After working at a State Farm Insurance agency, she took a few years off to care for her baby. She was ready to return to State Farm until she saw an article in The Azle News about the Good N.E.W.S. program. She called the program to see if there were any volunteer opportunities for young girls at her church and while she was on the phone with the director a job was offered to her.
“While I was on the phone with the director, she said, ‘Do you want a job?’ and I said, ‘Oh, interestingly enough, I'm going to go at noon today and accept this position at State Farm.’ She said, ‘Don't do it. Come here first,’ and so I went there first, and I've been at Good N.E.W.S. for 26 years now,” Barlett said.
Bartlett started her first year as the volunteer coordinator. After the director left, Bartlett didn’t immediately accept the executive director’s position because she loved working with the volunteers so much. She finally became the executive director of Good N.E.W.S. eight months after starting at the program, after the board of directors combined the executive director and volunteer coordinator positions.
