Dear Editor,
As a resident concerned about the future of our community, I am writing to highlight the growing controversy surrounding the proposed CyrusOne data center near the Jack and Wise County line. While developers promise a "transformative" tax boon, the hidden costs to our way of life are too great to ignore.
The primary concern is our most precious resource: water. Even with "closed-loop" systems, these facilities can consume hundreds of thousands of gallons. In a drought-prone region like ours, prioritizing industrial cooling over the needs of local families and ranchers is a dangerous gamble. Furthermore, the massive electricity demand of these "server farms" threatens to strain an already fragile Texas grid, potentially driving up utility rates for everyday citizens.
