Sixty teachers at Azle Independent School District will not receive new or higher bonuses this year following the state’s denial of the district’s Teacher Incentive Allotment designations.

Since the 2022-23 academic year, AISD has participated in the program launched by the Texas Education Agency, which recognizes and compensates top-performing teachers. According to tiatexas.org, the Teacher Incentive Allotment, shortened to TIA, is designed to recruit, retain and reward highly effective teachers through specialized designations. These designations — Recognized, Exemplary or Master — generate annual, performance-based salary increases ranging from roughly $3,000 to more than $32,000.

However, for the first time since this program was implemented in the district, AISD was informed by TEA Feb. 3 that its TIA validation for the 2025-26 school year was “denied pending a district appeal.”
