Azle Mayor Randa Goode showed solidarity for a nationwide campaign during an Azle City Council meeting April 7, when she issued a proclamation declaring the month of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

In conjunction with Freedom House of Parker County — a nonprofit agency in Weatherford that provides free services to survivors of violence — the city of Azle officially adopted the proclamation to help strengthen local resources and encourage community action.

According to the proclamation, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month — a nationally recognized campaign observed the first Tuesday of every April to raise awareness about sexual violence, educate communities about prevention and support survivors.
