Early voting is just around the corner for local races, as voters gear up to cast their ballots starting April 20 in two contested Pelican Bay City Council races.
Five candidates are seeking either election or reelection to the positions of mayor, Place 1 and Place 2 for the general election, which will be held Saturday, May 2.
Mayor Tamra Olague — who has served as mayor since 2022 after first being elected to city council in 2021 in Place 5 — has filed for reelection. She faces a challenge from newcomer Adam Gashi, who spoke in an open forum March 10 about wishing to unite the community and “work together to solve the city’s problems.”
Place 2 incumbent Sara Gashi seeks reelection and will go head-to-head against challenger David Sloane, a write-in candidate for the position.
Also seeking reelection is Place 1 incumbent David Dryden, who runs unopposed during this election cycle.
