SOFTBALL
The Lady Hornet varsity beat the Granbury Lady Pirates 4-0 Tuesday, April 7 on the road. Brooklyn Harris and Adalyn Kripner combined to throw a shutout. The Lady Hornets got on the board in the top of the second inning after Emma Booten doubled to center field, Fallon Inglet singled to center field and Brooklyn Harris grounded out to take a 3-0 lead. The Lady Hornets scored another run in the third inning after Hailey Laijas hit a sacrifice fly. Starting pitcher Harris earned the win giving up two hits, striking out five and walking one.
BASEBALL
The Hornet varsity faced Richland this week in district action. On Tuesday, April 7 the Hornets lost 5-2 on senior night. Martin Balderas got the start and went three solid innings, giving up one run while striking out two. Tyler Hicks, Mason Hollemann, Colten Fox and Kaden Haas each had two hits for the Hornets.
Varsity traveled to Richland High School for the Friday, April 10 district game where the Hornets outran Richland 10-8. Jett Ashley threw five strong innings in relief, striking out four. Henry Rosales and Wyatt Hicks had two hits each. Hicks, Garin Bissonnette, Hollemann, Nolan Meitz, Martin Balderas and Haas had one hit each. Seth Webb picked up the save with three strikeouts in one inning of relief.
Varsity ended the week with a 4-0 win over Haltom. Meitz, Tyler Couch and Martin Balderas each pitched in the shutout. Hayden Harrison and Hollemann had two hits each with Couch, Rosales, Meitz and Balderas each scoring one hit.
