Renee Ball has deep roots in Azle, with five generations of her family connected to Azle schools. Her great-grandfather, Dr. James Cozby, was a doctor in the early days of the Azle community, her grandparents owned farms in Parker and Tarrant County, and her parents are both Azle ISD graduates.

She grew up in the community that she still proudly calls home, surrounded by family members who always believed that education should be cherished. She is a proud graduate of Azle High School class of 1970 and went on to give back to the community that shaped her. She went on and worked for the district for 37 years, continuing her family’s long-standing connection to education.

She got her start with the district in 1977 at the ISD tax office and was hired by former superintendent Wendal Hoover. Later the ISD tax office closed, and the district contracted with the Tarrant County Appraisal District and the Tarrant County Tax Office for tax collections. Since the tax officed closed, Ball was given the opportunity to work as the office assistant in the ISD’s curriculum office. As the district started to grow, an assistant was needed in the human resources office, and she moved up to that position.
