Parents will no longer be able to drop off or pick up their children using the east shoulder of Boyd Road, following the adoption of a new ordinance by Azle City Council April 7.

During Ben Hall’s last council meeting as chief of police, he explained to council members that a parking ordinance for the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Boyd Road was requested by officials with Azle Independent School District as a safety precaution for the busy intersection.

“Essentially, the school district has requested that we implement this ordinance to relieve the problem of drop off and pick up, of having vehicles stopping there on the east side of Boyd Road, the 1200 block next to the high school,” Hall said. “In order to skip lines and miss the drop off cycle, people try to drop their kids off right on the shoulder next to traffic, so you've got a real potential issue there.”
