Voters in the cities of Azle, Pelican Bay and Reno will be tasked with casting their ballots for the general election Saturday, May 2.
AZLE
Azle’s general election was canceled as each candidate was unopposed. This means council members Derrick Nelson, Amy Estes and Rouel Rothenberger will be declared “elected to office” and will take the oath of office at a council meeting in May.
However, residents still need to vote on the reauthorization of the street maintenance tax. This special election includes a proposition for reauthorization of a local sales and use tax at a rate of one-fourth of 1% to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the countywide voting sites. For a list of all Tarrant/Parker County polling locations and other election information, visit gisit.tarrantcounty.com/tcvotingwaittime/ and parkercountytx.gov/530/Early-Vote-and-Election-Day-Locations.
PELICAN BAY
Five candidates are seeking either election or reelection to the positions of mayor, Place 1 and Place 2 in Pelican Bay.
Mayor Tamra Olague faces a challenge from newcomer Adam Gashi, while Place 2 incumbent Sara Gashi goes head-to-head against challenger David Sloane, a write-in candidate for the position. Place 1 incumbent David Dryden is the only candidate running unopposed during this election cycle.
Registered voters may cast their ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Pelican Bay City Hall, 1300 Pelican Circle.
RENO
In Reno, incumbent Edward Payne is seeking reelection to Place 5 against Darrin Talley. While three council seats were up for election this year, Place 5 is the only race with opposition. Kevin Vandenberg, the incumbent in Place 1, and Ryan Mott, who is running unopposed for Place 3, will be deemed duly elected.
On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the countywide voting sites. For a list of all Tarrant/Parker County polling locations and other election information, visit parkercountytx.gov/530/Early-Vote-and-Election-Day-Locations.
