Azle Youth Sports registration is open for football and cheerleading.

Azle Youth Sports is gearing up for a busy year, offering a full slate of youth and adult programs while also announcing a significant step forward in league competition beginning in 2026.

The organization, led by a board of directors that includes Chris Iglesias, Jeremy Doyle, Chris Mobley and Austin Mobley, along with Director of Football Operations Micah Rodgers, continues to grow its reach across the community.

AYS will offer a wide variety of programs this spring and summer, including flag football, tackle football, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball and 7-on-7 football. The organization is also introducing adult flag football, expanding opportunities beyond youth participation.

According to Mobley, the programs are designed to go beyond competition.

“These programs are about more than just sports,” Mobley said. “They help build teamwork, confidence and a lifelong love of athletics.”

Registration is currently open for flag and tackle football for children ages 5-12. Cheerleading registration is nearing its deadline as organizers prepare for uniform sizing. Volleyball registration is expected to open in mid-summer, while basketball sign-ups will begin in the winter. The 7-on-7 football season is scheduled for the spring, and details on adult flag football are expected to be announced at a later date.

In addition to its programming growth, AYS announced it will join the North Regional Division of Metroplex Youth Football starting in the 2026 season. The league will feature two divisions.

The North Division will include Azle, Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Eaton, White Settlement and Saginaw. The South Division will consist of Crowley, Burleson, Alvarado, Joshua, Cleburne and Castleberry.

The move is expected to provide increased competition and new opportunities for local athletes.

AYS will also host its second annual golf tournament fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 1 at Cross Timbers Golf Course. The event serves as a major fundraiser for the organization and will feature several contests, including a hole-in-one challenge, putting challenge, long drive and closest-to-the-pin competitions. A fan favorite — “Heckle Hole” — is also planned for No. 16.
