Most city managers never get the chance to see their name on a street sign, but for Tom Muir, this sweet gesture served as a sign — literally — of just how much he means to the city of Azle.
During Muir’s last Azle City Council meeting April 21, officials and residents honored the retiring city manager with a custom “Tom Muir Way” street sign, a plaque and gifts from Cross Timbers Golf Course, including a personalized name tag and a lifetime pass.
In just a few short days, Muir will be saying goodbye to his role as Azle city manager, bringing an end to 35 years of service in municipal government — 10 of which were spent in Azle.
