Following an exhilarating season that ended with a state wrestling title, two Azle High School coaches have been recognized for guiding their programs to success.
Azle High School girls wrestling coach Jayson Conger has been named the 2026 Region 3-5A Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association, sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance. Michael Mitchell, AHS boys assistant wrestling coach, was named 2026 Region 3 Assistant Coach of the Year by THSCA.
Conger guided the Lady Hornets to a UIL Class 5A state championship this past season, capping a dominant year for the program. Azle also crowned three individual state champions during the title run.
