No one was seriously injured Thursday, April 30, when a pickup left the main lanes of State Highway 199, traveled down an embankment, crossed the service road and struck a local furniture store.

According to Diane Blair, former owner of Waldrop’s Furniture in the 1400 block of Southeast Parkway, her grandson, Cameron Rickett, and his wife, Ashton, were working in the store that day. The couple had their new baby with them. Cameron’s parents, Corey and Christi Rickett, now own the store.

Blair said there were no customers in the store, and Cameron happened to be standing near a window, watching the rain, when he saw the pickup leave SH 199, go down the grassy embankment and crash into Cameron’s truck. The truck kept coming, crashing into the store’s front doors.
