Eddy Prather never imagined retirement would place him right back on the sidelines, but this former coach is proving you don’t always have to stray far from where your passion truly lies.
Since June 2025, Prather has served as sports reporter for both The Azle News and Springtown Epigraph — a career he chose that would allow him to cover the games he’s loved for decades.
Originally from the Lubbock area, Prather graduated Frenship High School and immediately joined the Army through the buddy system in July 1975 — right when the Vietnam War was ending.
