At the May 5 luncheon of the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce, Community Link announced its plans to install a set of food lockers at the Community Caring Center — a program calls “Link to Go” — to see if the program will work there.

Community Link works to alleviate hunger in Northwest Tarrant County by providing food assistance, case management and mental health counseling services.

The food locker program was created to address after-hours food access challenges at times when families need food, but staff and volunteers are not available. The system includes 20 climate-controlled units that can be heated, cooled or set to freezer temperatures. Families receive a code on their phone, which allows them to access a designated locker and pick up food outside regular operating hours.
