During the Tuesday, May 12 Pelican Bay City Council meeting, city officials approved multiple agenda items and discussed a wide range of concerns, including loose dogs roaming neighborhoods, flooding issues, fencing concerns, housing assistance opportunities, and future grant funding for the city.

A resident voiced concerns about dogs being walked off leashes near the Lakeview Drive area during citizen participation. The city officials emphasized that the city’s leash law requires dogs to always remain under owner control.

“They have to be on a leash, whether they’re with the owner or not, and if they’re not on a leash, it’s held like a small dog. They have to be under the control of the owner,” Mayor Tamra Olague said.
