The Azle High School wrestling program continued its impressive offseason success as several Hornets and Lady Hornets earned qualifying spots for the prestigious USA Wrestling Freestyle and Greco Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota in July. The wrestlers qualified during competition at the USA Wrestling Southern Plains Regional Championships May 15-17 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center.

Leading the way for Azle were state champions Noah Kovach and Tyler Yancy, who each captured a gold medal in their respective divisions. Both wrestlers are reigning UIL state champions who added another major accomplishment to their resumes with regional titles against some of the top competition in the southern United States.

Sage Mosier and Zaylyn Woods each earned silver medals to secure national qualifying spots, while Tyler Yancy also battled his way to a bronze medal finish in freestyle competition. Elly Yelle added another podium finish for Azle with a bronze medal performance.
