Love Thy Neighbor

But not their short-term rental
Love Thy Neighbor
Residents of the neighborhood near N. Broadway Road and Westlake Court rose up in opposition to one family there who requested a special use permit to operate a short-term rental on the street.

For what may have been the first time since citizens descended upon City Hall last August to protest a proposed tax hike, the Azle City Council faced a room full of residents at its Tuesday, May 19 meeting. This time, most of the people who filled council chambers live in the same neighborhood on or near N. Broadway Road, an area of large, estate-type homes situated along the Eagle Mountain Lake waterfront.

As they did in August, the citizens prevailed.

Most of the residents gathered to express their opposition to one neighborhood family’s application for a Specific Use Permit for a short-term rental, also called an STR — think Airbnb or Vrbo — during a public hearing focused on the applicant’s request for such a permit.
