Azle grad unveils tradition behind the masks
Azle High school graduate Drew Dorris unmasked in April to reveal his identity in the Purple Poo.

For more than 100 years, the mysterious members of the Tarleton State University Purple Poo have quietly worked behind the scenes to keep school spirit alive on and around the Stephenville campus.

Azle High School graduate Drew Dorris was one of those mysterious members.

Known as the oldest spirit organization in Texas, the Purple Poo traces its beginnings back to 1921, when TSU leadership decided the school needed more spirit and pride surrounding athletics and campus life. The original organization began with 10 male members, known as the Ten Tarleton Peppers. In 1923, 10 women were added to the organization, forming the Ten Tarleton Sisters.
