Curiosity may have killed the cat, but for Azle resident Lee Ann Parker, it sparked a need for speed — and a newfound talent in Corvette autocross racing.
While many racing origin stories are derived from a childhood desire, Parker’s took a different turn. In fact, the only reason she gave it a shot three years ago was because her husband, Steve, signed up for racing school — and she wasn’t about to be left on the sidelines.
“Steve bought a new 2022 Corvette, and the dealership gave him half off to go to Ron Fellows Racing School in Nevada,” Parker said. “I wasn’t going to be left behind, and I wasn’t going to watch, so I told him, ‘Well, you have to pay for me,’ and he was like, ‘You’re just going to be full price,’ and I told him, ‘Well, I’m not going to watch while you have fun.’”
