Travis Reed of Azle, a former captain with the now-defunct Briar Volunteer Fire Department, has pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth Division, to a single count of sexual exploitation of a child. Although it is unclear when he was taken into custody, Reed is currently incarcerated in the Fort Worth Federal Medical Center pending sentencing, which is currently set for Sept. 15.

The Azle News has obtained documents related to Reed’s case through the court’s online filing system.

In a criminal complaint dated Feb. 6, a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security says Reed was encountered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Nov. 2, 2025, when he made entry into the United States at the Port of Galveston Cruise Ship Terminal via the Regal Princess cruise ship inbound from Mexico. Reed is a registered sex offender with an Oct. 16, 2014, State of Texas conviction in Tarrant County for indecency with a child by sexual contact, the complaint says.
