The Azle ISD weight room is the place to be this summer.

The first week of summer strength and conditioning is officially in the books for Azle ISD athletes as the Hornet Elite program wrapped up its opening week Thursday, June 4, with strong participation numbers across all grade levels.

Head strength and conditioning coach Matt Holt said attendance and registration have exceeded expectations as student athletes continue preparing for the upcoming school year.

According to Holt, approximately 200 junior high athletes are currently participating in Hornet Elite, along with about 250 high school boys and 150 high school girls. The program remains open, and students who have not yet joined are still encouraged to participate.
