In a growing community, places dedicated to protecting wildlife and natural spaces have become increasingly important. While many people pass by without realizing it, the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge quietly protect habitats, supports wildlife and creates opportunities for people to connect with nature.

We all live life with a sort of urgency; chasing schedules, deadlines and destinations while time quietly moves around us. Not often do people learn how to slow down, take a deep breath, and stop to notice what surrounds them. In a fast-moving world, the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge provides visitors with an opportunity to step away from daily routines and reconnect with the environment around them.

Spanning nearly 3,700 acres, the refuge protects diverse ecosystems ranging from prairies and wetlands to old-growth forests. According to staff members, the refuge’s mission goes beyond simply protecting land.
