Harrison pins down new role
Tyler Harrison steps down as head boy’s wrestling coach but looks forward to his new job as assistant principal at Azle High School.

After guiding Azle High School wrestling to unprecedented success over the past eight seasons, Tyler Harrison is stepping away from coaching to begin a new chapter in school leadership. Harrison has resigned as the Hornets' head boys wrestling coach to become an assistant principal at AHS, leaving behind a championship legacy that helped establish Azle as one of the state's premier wrestling programs.

"Azle wrestling is a special program, and stepping away was a tough decision," Harrison said. "But I have always had the mindset that I am a steward of the program, and during my time at the helm I just needed to continue to grow it. I know the next coach will continue to do the same."

Harrison leaves behind a legacy defined by sustained excellence and championship success. During the recently completed 2025-26 season, the Hornets captured district and regional championships before finishing as the UIL Class 5A state runner-up.
