More than three decades after walking the halls of Eagle Heights Elementary as a third grader, Katy Reed has returned — this time as the school’s principal.

“I loved it here as a kid … I loved the teachers here. I especially loved the librarian, Miss Isabel, and the principals I had were really great. It's very kind of a full-circle moment for me to be able to come and lead the school I went to and enjoyed so much. So, that's what I'm looking forward to is giving kids and families that experience that I had,” Reed told The Azle News.

Reed grew up in Azle right behind Brookshire’s and attended Azle ISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. After graduating from Azle High School in 2000, she attended Tarrant County College to complete her core coursework. She initially studied business but quickly realized that it wasn’t the right fit. She later earned a bachelor's degree in general studies from Texas Woman's University in 2007 and a master's degree in teaching in 2009.
