Applications are now closed for members of Tri-County Electric Cooperative Inc. who wish to serve on the board of directors in the 2026 election. This year, members will cast ballots to elect representatives for Districts 1, 2 and 4.
Tri-County Electric’s board of directors is made up of members elected to represent nine geographic districts within Tri-County’s service area. Directors serve three-year terms and are responsible for setting corporate policies, setting financial budgets, approving long-range plans and guiding power supply and infrastructure strategies across 16 North Texas counties.
Following the July 10 application deadline, members of the Credentials and Elections Committee will review applications and begin interviewing qualified candidates at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 at the Azle office. According to Tri-County’s election timeline, the committee has until Friday, July 31 to determine qualified applicants, conduct interviews, provide a list of nominated candidates and notify all applicants of their status.
Applicants who are not selected by the committee can still seek a place on the ballot through member petitions, which are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
The committee is expected to finalize the list of candidates and inform the board of directors of its decisions by Wednesday, Aug. 12. Orientation emails will be sent to all candidates by Monday, Aug. 17.
Voting begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 and will remain open through 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
Election results will be announced during Tri-County’s virtual annual meeting Tuesday, Sept. 22.
