Water customers of Walnut Creek Special Utility District were notified July 9 that the district has implemented Stage 3 water restrictions effective immediately because of mechanical limitations. The notice added that it is the duty of the district to ensure that customers have plenty of essential water and that there be ample water for fire protection.
In a subsequent notice, the district said, “All pump stations and pumps are in working order and pumping at capacity, but water is still being used faster than it can be replenished. This will inevitably cause water outages and boil water notices. However, this can be avoided with customer cooperation. We ask that customers limit water use to essential use: drinking, bathing, etc. until the water system has sufficient time to recover. This will help tremendously in avoiding water outages. Thank you for your cooperation.”
