The city of Azle may be going through some trying times amid current budget cuts, but city leaders are still doing what they can to ensure all employees are recognized for their hard work and dedication this year.

Earlier this summer, council members asked each department to submit proposals outlining ways to reduce their budgets by 20% after the city projected a $3.1 million budget deficit.

While the city hasn’t yet made any final decisions regarding its budget, Human Resources Director Cat Schlueter told Azle City Council members July 7 she had already cut all employee development and recognition from the proposed budget to meet the 20% target.
