A Fort Worth man faces two charges of capital murder after Azle police discovered two women dead inside a home in Azle Thursday, July 16.

According to a news release from the Azle Police Department, Azle police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a suspicious situation in the 200 block of Stewart Bend Court in Azle. Because of the circumstances, officers made entry into the residence to check the occupants’ welfare.

Once inside, officers located two adult females, a mother and daughter, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The Azle Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division worked closely with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers during the investigation. With the assistance of FLOCK cameras and evidence collected at the scene, investigators identified Joseph Gordon of Fort Worth as the suspect responsible for the murder of his wife and mother-in-law.

The Texas Rangers took Gordon into custody, and he is currently being processed at the Parker County Jail on two counts of capital murder.
