The first day of school may still be a couple of weeks away, but the halls of the Azle Independent School District administration building were buzzing July 27 as 95 new teachers gathered for the first day of new teacher orientation.
The two-day event served as an Azle ISD crash course, with Superintendent Todd Smith and other district leaders going over the ins and outs of Azle ISD as new teachers connected with fellow educators.
As orientation kicked off, Smith spoke words of encouragement, reminding teachers that he was exactly where they were about 30 years ago — and he’s remained in the Azle ISD ever since.
