Battle of the Badges continues Aug. 7
It’s police versus fire in Azle’s Battle of the Badges, a community blood drive featuring a friendly competition between the Azle Police Department and Azle Fire Department.
From 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Azle City Hall, 505 W. Main St., donors can give blood during the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance’s bimonthly drive and choose which department gets their vote.
All donors will receive a $25 e-gift card and a Battle of the Badges T-shirt.
Sales tax holiday set Aug. 7-9
Texas’ Back-To-School Sales Tax Holiday is set for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 7-9.
Texas residents can support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced at less than $100 each during the annual tax-free weekend.

Community clothing swap due Aug. 8
Revive United Methodist Church will host a clothing swap from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at 404 W. Main St. in Azle. Bring clean, lightly used clothing, browse clothing donated by others.
The first 250 families will receive a free swag bag. Drawings for $100 Walmart gift cards throughout the event will also be included, as well as free hot dogs.

Popcorn Players’ Improv set Aug. 8
The Azle Arts Popcorn Players will host a one-night-only improv show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Azle Arts Association theater at 1012 Southeast Parkway.

Talking Book Program debuts Aug. 10
Anyone who has difficulty reading standard print material is invited to the Community Room at Azle Memorial Library, 333 W. Main St., from 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 to learn about the Talking Book Program.
During the information session, attendees will see a demonstration of the Digital Talking Book Machine and learn who qualifies for the program.

AJH ribbon cutting, open house Aug. 11
Come celebrate the opening of the new Azle Junior High campus Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 201 School St.
The celebration will kick off at the AJH back entrance with an Azle Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m., followed by an open house until 6 p.m.
Azle FCCLA Craft Fair expected Oct. 3
Azle High School FCCLA will host its fourth annual Craft Fair Fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 3, at Azle High School. The event will feature vendor booths throughout the cafeteria, gyms and Hall of Fame Commons, along with food trucks outside the stadium.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support FCCLA programs and activities. Vendors interested in participating can find application information through DFW Craft Shows or by contacting FCCLA adviser Natasha Deramee at [email protected].
