The Tarrant Regional Water District issued a statement Aug. 3 after residents around Eagle Mountain Lake expressed concerns about raw water pumping activity near Morris Dido Newark Road on the lake's north end.
According to the statement, TRWD entered into a short-term Temporary Raw Water Supply Agreement with BKV Corporation, a private oil and gas company. The agreement is effective from July 13 through Aug. 31. It authorizes BKV to withdraw up to approximately 32.7 million gallons from Eagle Mountain Lake.
At normal conservation pool levels, the statement says Eagle Mountain Lake stores approximately 185,000 acre-feet of water. The total volume authorized under the agreement represents less than one-tenth of one percent of the lake’s total storage capacity.
