Lynda “Scottie” Scott was born in Daingerfield in 1939. When she was 6 months old, Scott and her family relocated to Azle when her father came to help build a state park on the shore of Eagle Mountain Lake with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
She grew up with nine siblings in a small house east of State Highway 199, across the highway from what is now Ash Creek Park. She attended Azle ISD schools and graduated from Azle High School in 1957. She obtained an associate degree from Weatherford College.
Throughout her life, she has served on many organizations, including the Cross Timbers Golf Course committee for about 10 years, Azle ISD board of trustees for one term, the Azle Cemetery Association board and the hospital board. She was the outreach chairman for Azle Christian Church and has been a member of the church since 1952. For many years, she has served on the city’s library board.
