Todd Smith’s glittering green sequined blazer wasn’t the only thing shining at the Azle Independent School District annual convocation Aug. 7.
As Azle ISD’s sharply dressed superintendent kicked off the 2026-27 school year, the optimism of hundreds of educators shone just as brightly, setting the stage for a year filled with purpose, positivity and plenty of sequined school spirit to go around.
Following Smith’s opening remarks thanking each department for their role in organizing the convocation, Azle Education Foundation President Philippe Lalonde took to the podium to thank the district’s educators with something a little more tangible: grants.
