The Azle Lady Hornets opened the 2026 volleyball season with a five-set thriller at home Aug. 10 and closed out a busy first week with a 5-4 record, including a 4-3 showing at the Denton Ryan tournament.
The Lady Hornets gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about in the opener against Northwest High School.
Northwest controlled the opening set, defeating Azle 25-15, but the Lady Hornets responded quickly. Azle battled back to win the second set 25-22 and followed with a 26-24 victory in a tightly contested third set to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
