The Azle Hornets wrapped up their preseason work Thursday, Aug. 20 with a road scrimmage against Decatur, their last test before opening the 2026 season against Abilene Cooper Aug. 28.
For first-year head football coach Wilson Rigg, the final tuneup provided another look at how the Hornets are adjusting on both sides of the ball.
“Offensively, there were a number of explosive plays that were great to see,” Rigg said. “A large number of our players in the first and second groups took big steps forward.”
