The Wilson Rigg era at Azle High School opened with a comeback win.

Quarterback Auston Morgan connected with Kaden Haas for a 38-yard touchdown with 57 seconds remaining in the game Friday, Aug. 28, lifting the Hornets to a 28-24 victory over Abilene Cooper in the 2026 season opener.

Azle trailed by as many as 14 points and did not take its first lead until the final minute.
