Azle stayed within striking distance throughout its Aug. 28 match against former district rival Granbury, but the Lady Hornets could not extend the night past three sets.
Granbury defeated Azle 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 at Azle High School, dropping the Lady Hornets to 7-12 overall.
The straight-set loss did not come without a fight. None of the three sets was decided by more than five points, and Azle pushed Granbury to a two-point margin in the final set before the Lady Pirates completed the sweep.
