AISD sets sights on higher rating, future growth

You may not catch Azle Independent School District officials bragging about the district’s C accountability rating anytime soon, but Superintendent Todd Smith has nothing but confidence in where the district is headed.

At the August Azle ISD board of trustees meeting, it was announced that the district had earned a 78, or C, on its 2025-26 accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency. The state accountability system measures student achievement, academic growth and districts’ success in preparing students for life after graduation.

Smith, who spoke at the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon Sept. 1, said while the district isn’t proud of its C rating, officials know the community expects more from its schools.
