Azle High School students took a major step toward active citizenship the week of Sept. 14 during a voter registration event hosted at the school library. According to AHS Librarian Jenniffer Witherspoon, the event was designed for students who will soon reach voting age, and provided clear, accessible guidance about joining the electorate.
Community volunteers and voter registrars Terry and Mike Lafon dedicated their time to assist students with their application forms and answer questions about the voting process.
“Registering to vote is a significant milestone, representing a young person’s transition into adulthood and their commitment to civic responsibility,” Witherspoon said. “By taking the initiative to register, these students have demonstrated remarkable maturity and taken a crucial first step toward contributing to the future of their community and country when they cast their ballots in upcoming elections.
