“Oh, deer” took on a whole new meaning at the Sept. 15 Azle City Council meeting as city officials and residents spent more than an hour grappling with the city’s large deer population.

Azle resident Ken Bachelor, who spoke at the meeting during public comments, joked with council that he had “called y’all here tonight” because he had recently contacted the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to seek guidance on how the city could best manage its urban deer population.

“My goal here is not to make enemies,” Bachelor said. “It's to keep our neighborhood safe and have a reasonable number of deer.”
