Carla Noah Stutsman has worked for The Azle News and Springtown Epigraph off and on for 30 years. She has earned regional and state awards for news and feature writing, photography, and was named Journalist of the Year multiple times by both the West Texas Press Association and the North and East Texas Press Association. As a columnist, she has earned regional, state and national awards.
A lifelong resident of the Azle area, her passion for journalism began in the late 1970s when she was a sports reporter for The Stinger, the Azle High School newspaper. She didn’t graduate with her AHS class of 1978, though; in 2018, Stutsman earned her high school diploma from Azle Hornet Academy at the age of 59, further proving her commitment to learning and growth.
In 1996, she joined The Azle News staff, beginning her professional journalism career writing obituaries. Over the years, Stutsman has held a variety of roles in the newsroom, including reporter, society editor, news editor, copy editor and now editor. Stutsman stepped away from journalism for 10 years to pursue a career in real estate but ultimately found her way back to the newsroom — where her passion has always been.
