Azle Elementary School may have started the school year with all new students and all new grade levels, but its mission of “making a difference to every child, every chance, every day” has not changed in the slightest.

On the heels of Azle Independent School District’s realignment, Principal Dustin Bell told trustees Oct. 19 that AES has experienced a lot of change transitioning from a fifth- and sixth-grade campus of 552 students to a pre-K through fifth-grade campus of 347 students.

While the campus’ percentages of economically disadvantaged and special education students have remained relatively unchanged with this transition, its emergent bilingual population has decreased drastically since Azle Elementary is no longer considered an emergent bilingual campus.
