The verdict is in: Azle High School criminal justice teacher Katherine Cruz was found guilty of being an outstanding educator — and she has the plaque to prove it.
Cruz — who has been a teacher at Azle Independent School District since 2024 — received the Outstanding Educator Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving during the North Texas Law Enforcement Recognition Awards Dinner Sept. 29 at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch. MADD’s North Texas recognition program honors individuals working to prevent impaired driving, with its Outstanding Educator Award recognizing contributions to preventing underage drinking through education or enforcement.
“We are very pleased to recognize Ms. Cruz for her commitment to providing students with meaningful educational opportunities, developing their knowledge and skills in criminal justice, and helping prepare the next generation of professionals in this important field,” Lisa Gutierrez, MADD program and community engagement manager, said, according to a news release issued by Azle ISD
