Your recent article on fire coverage for Reno was well-written but left out key concerns voiced during the March 31 ESD 1 hearing.

Chief Watson acknowledged that half of Reno is beyond five miles from the nearest ESD 1 station — a distance that would automatically trigger an ISO 10 rating. That rating isn’t just a number; it means many residents may see their insurance premiums skyrocket — or lose coverage entirely.
